Details:

MATTE Black is our annual rite of spring, an experience at the intersection of music, art, design and digital technology. 2022 was held at the beloved Knockdown Center, and featured DJ sets by Peggy Gou, Heron Preston, Marcel Dettmann, and more. In addition, an international body of artist presented installation pieces as an immersive addition to Black. Artists included 404.Zero, Ivan Navarro, Jacolby Saterwhite, and Benjamin Gordon.

ORCHESTRATION OF SOUND AND FORM

MATTE took over Brooklyn’s Knockdown Center for two days to host our tentpole experience, MATTE Black, providing guests with another unforgettable synthesis of underground music and contemporary installation art.

VISUAL ARTISTS

404.ZERO (RU), Iván Navarro (CL), Jacolby Satterwhite (US), and Benjamin Gordon (AU) – four artists from diverging global socio-political contexts united in their interrogation of our material world through new media, technologies and algorithms. Shifts in scale, surface and experience offered new doors for perception.

The Black Card was an all-access membership to
the MATTE ecosystem – IRL, URL, and everything in between. Card holders will get SVIP to all future
MATTE experiences, access to member monthly
dinners, exclusive programming, and deals with
our brand partners.
